Dr. Christina Eberhardt
Dr. Eberhardt is originally from Germany where she grew up in a small town in the beautiful countryside of Bavaria. She has always been passionate about horses and actively competed in show jumping with her own horses.
Dr. Eberhardt graduated from the Veterinary Faculty of the Ludwig-Maximilians University of Munich in 2009. She spend several years working in equine private practice before moving to Zurich, Switzerland where she enrolled in the ACVIM-LA (American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine - Large Animal) residency program at the Equine hospital of the University of Zurich in 2014 to become a equine internal medicine specialist. Dr. Eberhardt gained her board certification in America and Europe in 2018.
Dr. Eberhardt has a special interest in equine cardiology. She gained advanced skills and knowledge through a 18-months fellowship in equine cardiology. For the past years, Dr. Eberhardt worked as a senior clinican and lecturer in equine internal medicine at the University of Zurich, Switzerland. Dr. Eberhardt is an active researcher in the field of equine cardiology and has published several articles in peer reviewed journals. She frequently speaks at international conferences and participates in CPD courses for equine practitioners.
At the beginning of 2020 Dr. Eberhardt relocated to Port Elizabeth, where she lives with her South African husband, their daughter and Viszla Marley. Besides her passion for horses, Dr. Eberhardt enjoys the outdoors, wildlife, trail running and baking.
Dr. Eberhardt has joined the team at the Onderstepoort Equine Hospital at the beginning of 2021 and now provides an equine cardiology specialist service.
